The all-new Cadenza takes over at the top of the Kia lineup as the brand’s flagship luxury sedan.
Wait a minute, did Kia need a flagship luxury sedan? According to the marketers and dealers, yes the brand did. The high-zoot Optima SXL has been selling well enough that Kia wanted something for those buyers to step up into. Enter the handsome Cadenza. This big sedan’s big family grille and quad headlamps carve out a look that’s distinctly similar to the rest of the Kia lineup–just a lot bigger. The obligatory LED lights and dual exhaust are indicators that this is a cut above the rest of the family, while a chrome band at the rocker panels adds some curbside distinction.
Inside, the Cadenza features a standard navigation system, leather trim and a reverse camera. There’s lots of room, especially for rear-seat passengers. Smartphone connectivity and an Infinity audio system are also standard. Options include a rockstar-style powered rear sunshade, a panoramic sunroof and heated rear seats.
This big, luxurious front-driver is powered by a 3.3 liter direct-injection V6 engine producing 293 horsepower. Variable valve timing and a three-stage variable induction system enable smooth power delivery.
The driving experience is enhanced by a lane-departure warning system, smart cruise control with an auto-brake system, and a blind spot warning monitor. The Cadenza goes on sale in the spring of 2013.
