Automobile brands figure prominently in many movies and TV shows, but the current preoccupation with Jaguar in the popular Mad Men series is unique. The retro (circa 1965) advertising-agency-focused show has a brooding Don Draper (played by actor John Hamm) and his gang pitching for Jaguar’s business and prominently features a gorgeous XKE roadster as the primary prop. It so happens fyidriving.com loves E-Types and would give his eyeteeth and his fedora to own one of these classics. But he also wonders, given the plot’s underhanded and downright sleazy shenanigans that form the backdrop for the Jaguar-themed shows, if it’s hurting or helping Jaguar’s sales and brand image. Time will likely tell, but meantime the undercovered one has found this season of Mad Men particularly entertaining.
