According to fyidriving.com’s contacts at General Motors, a decision needs to be made, and very soon, as to what the next-generation Camaro will look like. The car must be downsized for the 2016 model year and its powerplants made more thrifty to meet mpg levels that will pass muster with the Feds. In doing so, the debate raging within Chevy’s design studio is whether to stick with the car’s retro-influenced body, and if so, which generation should the Camaro emulate? Or, do you they begin with a clean-sheet shape? Being from the Old (Old-Old) School, fyidriving.com wants the Camaro to stick close to its roots (no, not the gray ones) and hang on to the ’60s theme that’s currently a huge success (the Camaro leads its class in sales). But most Chevy stylists are probably half fyidriving.com’s age and don’t longingly gaze into the rear-view mirror for their inspiration when creating any new model. For certain, though, it’s one heck of a dilemma.
