Nissan will take an offensive position at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, March 8-18, previewing a quartet of concepts, including two world premieres that will offer insights into the company’s future direction. Fyidriving.com hears that among the key new concepts will be the world premiere of the Invitation, due to begin production in Europe in 2013, inspiring the company’s next-generation hatchback and giving it the broadest offering of vehicles in the compact hatch segment. The other world premiere concept from Nissan will be its second all-electric vehicle after the Leaf – the e-NV200 minivan – recently chosen for the next-generation New York “yellow” cabs, and soon to be seen all over Manhattan. The Invitation will include technology that gives a bird’s eye view of the car for easier parking, and a “Safety Shield” system that uses cameras and proximity sensors to warn of possible hazards.
